Geopaving

Geopaving products are installed between an existing pavement and a new asphalt layer during resurfacing and rehabilitation. Their purpose is to address reflective cracking — the tendency of cracks and joints in the old surface to work their way up through the new overlay within a few seasons, undoing the repair. The interlayer absorbs and redistributes that movement, and in fabric form also seals the surface against water infiltrating the base.

The benefit shows up over time rather than at handover: a longer interval before the next intervention, and in some cases a thinner overlay achieving the same design life. Products range from saturated paving fabrics to grids that add tensile reinforcement within the asphalt, with composites combining both. They are used on municipal streets, highways, parking areas, industrial yards and airfield pavements, particularly where the existing surface is sound structurally but badly cracked.
